A patient's diary to comparison wax, electrolysis, laser hair removal, shaving and cream
I have never shaved my legs before, but the soft, curly red hair that prompted my family to start calling me hobbit-legs, helped me want to shave (see picture of right). So I decided to learn about the different methods of hair removal. I planned to first compare the various methods based on pain, cost and effectiveness (how long the hair stayed gone). Then, I would research each independently, and finally, I would speak to the people who do the different procedures at salons and clinics. However, I was so surprised by the interest that my friends showed in the article that I decided to actually try each of the methods.
Pregnancy produce hair on my face,
The hormones changes during pregnancy can cause more of your hair to enter into the resting phase and resulting in the appearance of thicker hair. Usually, this extra hair shows up on your face, arms, belly, nipples or other unwanted places.
Then, whether can I have a laser hair removal treatment during pregnancy?
It’s really difficult to get a clear cut answer to this scary question. Although laser radiations are electromagnetic radiations that are very different from X-Ray radiations. Lasers have a wavelength similar to light and penetrate only up to few millimeters under skin, It is not able to infiltrate deep inside to the embryo or fetus and hence if out of harm's way. But, There have not been any studies done comprehensively to find out how laser hair removal can affect the fetus especially when it is done on abdomen or bikini area.
So, We Recommend
*
It is relative safety during early pregnancy. If you must have a laser hair removal treatment, please do it during early pregnancy but stay away from the bikini area. *
If you’ve had excess hair for some time and now want to get rid of it, it is perfectly safe to have laser hair removal done on your face during pregnancy. *
Other cases, The best option is that have a laser hair removal treatment after the baby is delivered.

When my hair will fall out after laser hair removal?
Hair will gradually fall out starting in about 2 - 3 weeks and continue over the next 6 weeks.
The hairs will be pushed out of the new epidermis. Use a mild sugar scrub in the shower on the 10th day, which helps exfoliate the skin and remove hair.
Repeated treatments are necessary to catch all the hairs in their various stages of growth.

Laser hair removal feel like a rubber band snapping the skin.
It is also important to remember that everyone is different and it will depend on you level of sensitivity or pain tolerance. The pain wasn't unbearable at all, nothing like the searing pain of waxing.
To take the edge off, pop acetaminophen beforehand, or ask your doctor to prescribe a numbing cream (apply 30 minutes ahead of time).
Slight redness and swelling afterward is normal, Ice packs may be applied to the skin following treatment. If localized blistering occurs, a topical antibiotic ointment is applied once or twice daily until healed.

Does laser hair removal cause scarring?
Lasers can be extremely dangerous in wrong hands and any laser procedure can cause scarring. However, the risk of scarring from laser hair removal is rather small.
The main reasons can cause scarring of laser hair removal including:
1.
Some skins are just not suitable for lasers, such as a history of hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation. 2.
Different types of skin must be used suitable laser. If laser be used on the wrong type of skin, it can cause serious burns and lasting pigment or scarring. The darker skin types must pay attention to it. 3.
The experience, skill, knowledge and training of the laser operator. Getting a laser hair removal treatment at an unlicensed clinic and under people with no medical training can be very risky. 4.
Most dermatologists recommend waiting 1 year after taking isotretinoin (Accutane®) before doing laser hair removal because of atypical scarring that has been associated with use of this drug during treatment.
A few patients about 2% - 10% especially in darker skin types will have temporary pigmentary changes after laser hair removal treatment. Don't worry because most of time this is not scarring. The skin will automatically resolve from weeks to months but as far as possible not to tanning.

What happens to the skin after laser hair removal treatment?
The area that be treated of laser hair removal may become :
1. Pink or Red. The color is a response from the laser on the skin, clients describe it as mild sunburn.2. Bumpy. The bumps are from the heat trying to escape from the hair follicle.
This reaction is very normal and temporary because the laser does not damage the skin, it usually subsides within a day or so. If necessary, the doctor may prescribe a topical cream or aloe on the area to cool your skin. Some people experience a slight crusting of the skin. If crusting occurs, keep the area moist with petroleum jelly (Vaseline).
After laser hair removal treatment:
1.
Against redness or bumpy of the skin, you can use the Cold Compress. Use ice and place it over the affected area gently, changing as often as necessary. 2.
Use makeup or antibacterial creams sparingly after laser hair removal however moisturizing creams is commended. Moisturizing creams can aid in the recovery of the skin in the treated areas. 3.
Don't wax or pluck hairs between treatments. 4.
Don't pick at or manipulate the skin in treated areas. 5.
Don't rub or scrub the treated area. You may gently wash the area with soap and water. 6.
Avoid exercise and exertion for the first 24 hours. Perspiration from exertion may increase irritation caused by the laser. 7.
Avoid exposure to the sun for several weeks after treatment. Apply sunblock that at least SPF 25 for the first few weeks. Avoid tanning booths - the ultraviolet light damages the skin.

Chest Hair Removal Cost & Comparisons
There are a number of important factors that can affect chest hair removal prices. Because it's the closest legitimate option to permanent hair removal available, laser hair removal won’t be the same price as a can of shaving cream. However, your final bill will usually rise or fall depending on the time and number of sessions your treatment requires. In other words, anything that extends the length of treatment, such as surface area (bigger chest = more time to treat), hair density (more hair = more treatments), hair pigment (red, blonde, and gray hair are more difficult to remove), and skin tone (some lasers don't work as well on dark skin), will usually result in a higher chest hair removal cost. Logically, then, costs of full body hair removal will also be considerably more, unless you take advantage of special deals like the ones mentioned below.Men: Your Laser Hair Removal Treatment GuideIt's extremely important to learn all you can about chest laser hair removal before starting a treatment. Laser hair removal for men routinely involves larger areas of the body, but you can actually save considerable cash by finding laser clinics that offer incentives and deals for combo treatment packages, especially if you're considering a full body hair removal treatment, rather than a chest hair removal procedure alone. By knowing what to look for in a laser clinic, you'll be able to save money and put your care in the hands of the best technicians with the best technology.
